Some 2 years ago I made a posting that reverting the teaching of Maths & Science in English to Bahasa Malaysia was illogical and dumbfounded. Today it was finally announced that the two subjects will continue to be taught in English for the next 9 years through a transition plan. A reprieve indeed given the anxiety thousands of parents had to go thru over the last several months.

Whether its an election ploy or something else, there is actually a catch to the announcement. Schools will be allowed to decide whether to teach in BM or English .. aha.. so will principals be bold enough to choose English and probably have their school 'victimised'.. or will they toe the Education Ministry's line and stay in its good books?? Will parents be able to transfer their kids to schools that offer their preferred medium of instruction? More questions than answers..
